In its recent announcement, Blockchain technology company- Unibright said it would be partnering with Wasserkraft Mittelrhein to assist in varied operations such as energy monitoring, trading, integration and data analysis.
In the latest venture, Unibright will focus on a unified framework which brings together smart contracts and blockchain technology for mainstream usage, addressing the problems with fossil-fuel based energy systems which include energy crisis, pollution and carbon emissions.
The latest venture will highlight the concept of “smart grid”. Through this small power producers would be able to stay in touch with consumers through blockchain technology. The partnership with Wasserkraft Mittelrhein will further help in generating clean and renewable energy with hydroelectric power buoys.
The power buoys generate electricity by converting the power of the river’s current by using a more than 8 feet long rotor. Sources reveal, the buoy weighs more than 7 tons and is 36 feet long which can further also generate electricity to 100 households.
Furthermore, the current pilot program has installed 16 power buoys into the River Rhine and has generated close to 6.4M kilowatt hour of electricity per year which is sufficient to power over 1000 households and return over 6000 tons of greenhouse gas. Furthermore, the latest project will provide constant power through the river’s current.
In the wake of the situation, Unibright stated, “Currently, the first pilot buoy has been installed in river Rhine, mainly to collect data on the river’s current and to provide information for external auditors in terms of environmental sustainability and stability of the construct. All innovative ideas, milestones, and roadmaps have to be adjusted according to the regulator and external funding, and the goal is to have 16 buoys installed, producing energy and using Unibright technology by the beginning of 2021.”
