Sweden has long been known for its amazing renewable energy infrastructure and the nation has emerged as an amazing example of how we can achieve what we desire despite of the unfavourable conditions.
Swedish activist Greta Thunberg has been making headlines since she voiced her climate concerns publicly and advocated some serious measures that the world is fearing to take to help combat the climate change emergency. She stated the world needed to give up flying which is a bold statement in itself and a direct threat to a multibillion or maybe multi trillion-dollar industry of aviation and the corporates were shaken by this statement. To prove her concerns for flying she gave up flying and travelled by sea to New York from Sweden to attend a United Nations assembly and help voice her concerns regarding climate emergency. Out of all the nations in the world only the citizens of Sweden have accepted to say no to the aviation transport as it is one of the most climate damaging activities. Fridays for Future, a global climate movement sparked by Swedish activist Greta Thunberg when she launched her one-girl school strike in Stockholm just over a year ago has spawned similar movements all around the globe and more and more people are now joining the cause. Huge turnouts were seen in India, Sweden, Scotland and some more nations.
Sweden with this movement can become one of the most prominent name in the global stage advocating climate concerns and doing what’s beneficial to the country and the world. Maybe this movement by Greta has an impact on the dust covered minds of people and they actually turn out at protests who knows the world just might become a better place.
