PROS AND CONS OF TWO MOST COMMON RENEWABLE ENERGY TYPES

Renewable energy is energy that has been sourced from earth’s natural resources that are infinite or inexhaustible, such as wind and sunlight. Renewable energy is an able substitute to the traditional energy that relies on fossil fuels, such as coal and it tends to be much less impactful to the environment.

Two Types of Renewable Energy

Solar

Solar energy, a most common source of energy is borrowed by grabbing radiant energy from sunlight and redirecting it into heat, electricity, or hot water. Photovoltaic (PV) systems can acquire and convert direct sunlight into electricity through the use of solar cells.

Benefits

One of the key traits of solar energy is that sunlight is functionally limitless. With the technology to harness it, there is a limitless supply of solar energy, meaning it could relegate fossil fuels to history.  Depending on solar energy rather than fossil fuels also helps us enhance public health and environmental conditions. In the long term, solar energy could also terminate energy costs, and in the short term, reduce your energy bills. Many federal local, state, and federal governments also augment investment in solar energy by providing rebates or tax credits.

Current Limitations

Although solar energy will help you save on expenses in the long run, it tends to be an unviable cost and is an unrealistic expense for most households. For personal homes, homeowners also need to have as mandatory  ample sunlight and space to arrange their solar panels, which poses the universal query as to who can realistically adopt this technology at the holistic level.

Wind

Wind farms capture the energy of wind flow by using wind turbines and converting it into electricity. There are several forms of systems used to convert wind energy and each differs. Commercial grade wind-powered generating systems can power-up many different organizations, while single-wind turbines are used to help assist pre-existing energy organizations.  For all technical purposes, wind energy is a form of solar energy. Nature’s element we call “wind” is caused by the differences in temperature in the atmosphere combined with the rotation of Earth and the geography of the planet.
