ABU DHABI, October 29, 2019 (WAM) — Awaidha Murshed Al Marar, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, DoE, drew how Abu Dhabi’s energy transformation has vividly changed the emirate’s energy outline over the past few years, during his crucial address at the Singapore Energy Summit held as member of the Singapore International Energy Week.
Outlining Abu Dhabi’s advanced economic vision for the post-oil era, he stated, “With energy use in Abu Dhabi has more extra doubled over the past decade and expected to grow by 1.4 percent each year until 2035 due to important germination in population and economic growth, we acknowledged the need to transition our energy system in the direction of a sustainable future and to enhance energy efficiency and justify expenditure. Our approach is drawn in the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, the country’s first united energy strategy based on supply and demand.”
in 2017, the strategy aimed to surge the contribution of clean energy in the total energy mix to 50 percent by 2050, decrease the carbon footprint of power generation by 70 percent, and surge consumption competence by 40 percent.
The DoE Chairman stated, “The Barakah Nuclear Plant is anticipated to bring 5.6 GW of entire force to the Abu Dhabi power mix and balance more than 21 million tonnes of greenhouse emissions per year when fully functioning. Abu Dhabi’s flagship Noor Abu Dhabi Solar PV Plant alone has shared some 2.6 percent of the emirate’s spirit demands.”
“We also included the Virtual Battery Plant in January 2019, the world’s biggest grid-scale advanced battery energy storage ability with 108MW Sodium Sulphur batteries with over six hours of energy storage capability in 10 various places in Abu Dhabi,” he additionally said.
