Tawazun Economic Council is partnering with multinational aerospace, defence and security player Leonardo and the Abu Dhabi Aviation Training Center (ADATC) to develop new and expanding training capabilities in the Middle East as part of its support to the national economy and to attract foreign and domestic investment to the UAE. The partners decided to launch the region’s first AW169 helicopter simulator and update an existing AW139 simulator program. Leonardo will send the simulator to ADATC.
This will boost Leonardo’s level of service and accessibility in line with its strategic strategy to its growing global customer base. Mattar Al Rumaithi, Chief Officer of Economic Development, Tawazun Economic Council, said: “We expect strong industry growth from these agreements, which in turn will greatly benefit our economy, our military and our industry. We also work closely with our strategic partners to support future growth and expansion in the UAE, such as Abu Dhabi Aviation and Leonardo.
This project will play a key role in laying the groundwork for future national flight test projects to strengthen the defence, military, and air forces sectors. The agreement was signed by Matar Ali Al Rumaithi, ADATC Chief Economic Development Officer at Tawazun HE Nader Ahmed Al Jamadi, Abu Dhabi Aviation Chairman, Mr Ahmed Ismail Al Khoury, and Leonardo. Nader Ahmed Al Hammadi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Aviation, commented on the new capabilities: “Abu Dhabi Aviation is committed to delivering the region’s best leading training programs. We are now proud to be a state-of-the-art training centre and facility in the region. Including the introduction of new simulators, we foresee a direct impact on the UAE economy through the 20 planned regional pilot exercises that will affirm our role as major industry contributors in the UAE by further enhancing local skills and educating the region’s military and defence field.
“With these innovative simulators, our long-established partner Abu Dhabi Aviation will be able to deliver excellent training capabilities with state-of-the-art virtual reality technologies. He will be the first global participant for simulation training for both AW139 and AW169, the best sellers for a variety of missions in their respective helicopter categories. We are delighted to contribute further to the potential development of the UAE in aviation, “Leonardo said. The plan seeks to create new opportunities in different strategic sectors to support and grow the defence and security industries in the UAE.
The Tawazun Economic Plan, which recently launched its new policy in February this year, is aimed at promoting and pursuing this goal of economic diversification in the UAE; Abu Dhabi has adopted an income diversification plan. It encourages alliances in the long term.
