Together with Ghenova, CAPSUN Technologies has developed a SPIRE and BLUESOLAR Project which will help in generating energy through disruptive technology.
The technology implemented by the project uses the most efficient features of Photovoltaic Plants (PV) and Concentrated Solar Plants (CSPs). Furthermore, through a selective optical filter, the light spectrum can be divided. The filter thus allows efficient passage of radiation by means of photovoltaic panel and reflects 40% of energy in forms of blue and infrared light.
SOLAR BLUE further transforms the heat which overheats the photovoltaic cells into thermal energy by using a Tower -CSP-TES system.
The thermal energy can further be used for several other applications, this includes thermal energy storage (TES), which is a cost-effective method for batteries and photovoltaic plants. Moreover, this combination of electricity can also be used for desalination, industrial process heat, agriculture, district heating / cooling, among others. SPIRE has zero CO2 emissions, no energy dumping, no degradation like silver mirrors, double battery life cycle, less attenuation than current CSP towers, among other such benefits.
Sources also reveal, SPIRE’s filters have already been successfully tested and are easy to manufacture based on current window manufacturing processes.
